Restaurant websites come in a variety of shapes, colors and sizes. What I expect to find when I visit a restaurant website is a fast way to get food when I’m hungry. Most of the time, I have found that restaurants, rather than being associated with their own website are instead associated with a restaurant web group. This does not always reflect the overall style and flavor of the restaurant. For the most part, the information found here is simply a name, an address, and maybe a brief menu. Seldom, can you even contact the restaurant directly from this spot on the web.
The best restaurant websites I have been to, and the one I am having built for my location, is a far cry from the old way of doing things. I was given the option of what website address I wanted. There was no need to look my restaurant up in a list of my competitors. Customers could come right into our restaurant, look around and order directly over the website.
Restaurant Websites - What to do?
Once I can get a customer to visit my website, I want them to return often, so ease of use is just as important as the look of the restaurant website. The company we went with for a design, used all of our colors, our logo, and conveyed a very accurate sense of what we serve and what we are all about. It is fun to visit.
Then the real benefit is that my customers can order anything they want from our full menu right away and even pay over the website. This is a feature I had been looking into for years but it was among the most expensive upgrades to install in our restaurant. With no guarantee, customers would order, we feared it would be a bad investment. Just recently, however, we found a company to do everything for one low price and after 2 months of use, internet orders account for 25% of our lunchtime orders and 20% of our nightly orders.
