Restaurant marketing is the only way to attract new customers to your restaurant. If I opened my restaurant in the middle nowhere and didn’t tell anybody, no customers would come. From the second I tell one person, I have planted an idea in someone’s head and have started marketing my restaurant. Then, they tell someone else, who will tell someone else in turn. The result, assuming every customer has a great experience is positive marketing through word of mouth.
Now, it would be great if I could be out there everyday telling everyone I meet about my restaurant. But I need to cook and I need to supervise my restaurant. I can’t do all of the restaurant marketing myself and I certainly cannot rely solely on the word of mouth to bring customers in. I need to advertise. I need to give people as much information about my restaurant as I can in a very short time. The time it takes someone to walk down the street and past one of our signs. Will they stop and read all of it?
Restaurant Marketing With Your Website
Restaurant Marketing is best done with my website. If I can get someone that is hungry and on the computer to remember my website address, I have successfully marketed my restaurant. If I want to run a special on Item “X” this week before it spoils then how fast could I get the word out? I could mail out postcards, I could call everyone, or maybe fax all of my customers. These are all very good ways to get the word out but cost a little more money and require planning ahead.
With a good number of my customers using my website to place orders and ask questions, it takes only seconds to do some impromptu restaurant marketing. They may have come to the website to order a cheesesteak but now they are ordering a veal parm because it is on special and I have more room in my freezer!
